Weekend paddling opportunities 23rd/24th July

23rd of July: SWAN HERDING AT DOWNTON
We have been asked to help with the swan ringing on the Avon by paddling along to gather up the swans for ringing (apparently they will have lost their flight feathers so won’t just fly away!) We helped with this a couple of years ago and it was a nice mornings paddle. Suitable for most 1 star paddlers - you may even get to hold a swan!

24th of July: SCC TRIP TO SYMOND’S YAT ON THE RIVER WYE

This will be a full days trip to the wye and depending on those attending there will be a combination of river trip and playtime on the Symond’s Yat rapid, easy-ish grade 2 so good for this with limited white water experience. Anyone who could provide transport etc would be most welcome!!

Not sure of timings yet for these activities both are likely to involve early starts, swan herding probably finished by midday, the Wye trip will be an all day trip getting back to Salisbury ~6.00 pm.

In order to plan these trips, please could you let me know  by email, on Facebook or on the Forum.

I’d particularly like responses about the Swan Herding so that I can confirm that we can support this (we can transport boats for people, if necessary, in the trailer).

Thanks

Chris

Excellent, hopefully should have details of the Saturday trip by Tuesday and we'll sort out Sunday then too.

7.00 am at the club for those going! Paddling kit, packed lunch and plenty to drink - looks like it could be warm.
