Beginners white water trip #2
Sunday 15th October
After the success of our Exe trip, here's another chance to do a bit more whitewater paddling! The trip will be just one day and the destination will be somewhere in the south west, depending on rain/water and weather conditions. This will be a grade 2/3 trip so if you liked the Exe and are comfortable moving around on the Salisbury "weir" sign up below.
Trip could include a breakfast stop and you'll need to contribute to fuel (cost of these trips with breakfast is typically <£20). If you are happy to drive please let us know.

Hi Rich,

I have a feeling that Peter Jennings may be interested in a day trip down but can't remember if its Saturday or Sunday.

SCC Trips / Dartmoor weekend 28th/29th Oct

Dartmoor Weekend 28th 29th October
We are planning to have a paddling weekend on Dartmoor over this weekend. We will book bunkhouse accommodation probably in Princetown for the Saturday night. Paddling will be tailored for the group going (you should be very comfortable on the Salisbury weir and/or have come on trips with us before. Talk to the coaches if you are unsure whether this is right for you).
The usual agenda for these trips is: Day 1: travel down to Dartmoor early and stop for a bit of breakfast, paddle a couple of rivers, book in to the bunkhouse, have a meal in the pub. Day 2: Breakfast, paddle another river (occasionally 2) and travel back home.
The cost of the trip will be approximately £32 which includes the bunkhouse (bring your own bedding – sheet, sleeping bag and pillow), breakfast on Sunday and fuel. You will also need lunches for Saturday and Sunday and money for Saturday breakfast and evening meal too.
If you would like to come please post your interest here or email [email protected], so that we can book the accommodation and please let us know if you are willing to drive.

SCC Trips / Exe trip Sunday 3rd Sept
« on: August 24, 2017, 01:38:50 PM »
OK, back from holidays and hopefully can now sort out our trip on Sunday 3rd Sept.

This will be a beginners white water trip to paddle a relatively easy stretch of the river Exe around Tiverton. If you are comfortable paddling on the Salisbury "weir" ths could be for you! Of course more experienced paddlers are also welcome too and should be able to make this an interesting paddle. If you want a laugh, Sam is thinking about taking the OC1 so there could be a swim or two from him!!

We will be travelling by car so if you are happy to provide transport and can take boats please let us know, equally, if you need transport please let us know that too.

We will meet at 8.00 am at the club, sort out kit, travel down to Tiverton, have a paddle and hopefully be back late afternoon (packed lunch etc will be needed).

If you are interested please let us know by posting here or by emailing the SCC enquiries line. For those interested, we'll have a short meeting to sort out kit, and provide any more info after paddling next Tuesday (29th).

Hi All,

Lee Valley tomorrow, Sam has an Olympic assessment at 10 am so we are going to leave from my house at 7.00 am, I can fit others in if needed, but may be too early if the rest of you have 12 noon first paddling slots?

Let me know if anyone needs a lift.

I think we'll need two cars, I can't get a Canadian and two kayaks on the roof. Planning to pick up the Canadian tonight after the pool session so will probably also set of around 7.30 - we'll see on the road or at the start!

Looks like there should be some water left by Sunday as Pete has said, but is probably going to be busy - perhaps skip the breakfast stop!? Don't really want to meet much earlier than 6.30!!

At the moment its

Tom Will and Mark W all expressed an interest at the pool session or last Tuesday so and will need another car (or two - then I don't have to drive this time!)

It's raining!! looks like there should be some water on Dartmoor on Sunday so who's up for a paddle? Probably will meet at the club at ~6.30 am (6.00 am for Mark Warner), head down, have breakfast and then go for a paddle, be back in Salisbury probably about 7 pm.

Please post interest on here or on the SCC Facebook page and please let us know if you'd be willing to drive.
