Post by: ChrisG on December 20, 2015, 12:03:03 PM
 :D :D :D Anyone fancy a trip down to Dartmoor over the hols? :D :D :D

28th-30th Dec or Sunday 3rd Jan OK for me and Sam (and maybe Helen and Emily).

Anyone have any preferences for dates??

I would be interested just need to check my duties when I go in tonight. Are you looking at a day trip or overnight?

I can only make the 30th and I don't think I will be able to source a boat before then....  >:(
Should have got my act together quicker. I take it santa is bringing you and Sam a new one??

30th seems to be the best for most. Mark, I have a welded up large burn you could borrow if you'd like, it doesn't leak honest! (Santa was very good to both me and Sam!!) Should be good enough to get you down the loop or similar!

Peter Booth and Pete A are also keen. A bit of fresh air would be good for your cold Mark (May also go to Cardiff on Sunday with Sam if you're interested)

If 30th is OK then I'd suggest meeting at the club at ~7.00 and we'll head down for a leisurely Loop or something similar?

Cheers

Chris

Kev, looks like we have the following interested in a paddle:

Chris
Sam
Pete A
Peter Booth
You

Peter has his play boat,  but could borrow a G3 from the club for something else (unless he wants to paddle the play boat). Walkham Tavey then the Erme?

Two cars?  I'm happy to drive one.

Cool. I'm happy to drive my fueloholic car :)

I'm not sure those rivers in that order would work with the current forecast. Its due to rain hard from early morning Sunday onwards - the Erme rises fast and gets angry with water!

Talking of the forecast, the met office have issued a weather warning for Devon. I've tried heading that way before in similar conditions and it was impossible to get to Dartmoor due to roads being closed. The forecast would suggest we are more likely to get trapped in Devon, unable to return home!

Hi Kev,

Does seem to be looking very wet in Devon not sure I want to get stuck either getting there or getting back!  Have you got any other suggestions, my fall back was going to be a trip to Cardiff (Ok for Peter B in his playboat, but not sure you'd appreciate the concrete ditch!)

I'm happy missing out if you want to go to Cardiff. Another area would be the barle on exmoor but it's a long way for a grade 2 river.

Umm, not done the Barle before, so could be tempted, UKRGB suggests 2 with bits of 3 and getting harder in high water (could well be high tomorrow!) could it be worth going? - seems like a similar distance to Dartmoor/Cardiff
