Sun 13th Dec. Dartmoor Grade 2/3
« on: November 29, 2009, 07:42:28 PM »
We plan to run a trip to dartmoor (dependant on water levels).
For those who have never been its an early morning start, drive to dartmoor, pick a river and driver back later in the evening. Breakfast is en route and you need to bring lunch.
The trip will be on grade 2/3, most likely Dart loop (middle).
Paddlers must have previous white water experience and must be 'vet-ed' (given the nod) by me and Pete.
If you think you are in this category and would like to attend, please put your name down here (you need to register to post, its simple to do and i will get you online ASAP!)

Not sure I'm qualified for this one.  What time would you get back in the evening anyhow?  I have a do in town at 20:00 on the 13th.  Cheers Mark

Well its the next stage up from symonds yat, just a shame that the yat was underwater and we couldn't use it. I dont know what your winter paddling gear is like but you will need to wrap up warm. Other than that, just speak to pete at the pool sat, your name cropped up in conversation as one we would take.

We would normally be back before that, it depends how the day plans out and if we do 2 trips or 1. We can leave at the earliest possible time (just to annoy pete :P).
Providing we dont get major issues i would expect us to be back at 16:00 if we do one trip or 18:30 if we do 2. But its all guess work. It's about a 2 hour 30 min drive and it gets dark so fast we'd have to be off the water by 4 anyway.

Back down to 2 as Gordon has dropped out. Though depending on where your meeting, it may be easier for me to head to meet you rather than in Salisbury

I have had my day off authorised  ;D
The next question is do you think it will be ok in my S8 or should I use hutch's boat. (I have checked with him)  ???

There is still time for others to add their names.

However, if those interested include Kev C, Pete A, me, Robyn, Dave, Mark C (and possibly Mark W depnding on timings), then maybe we could have a Salisbury and Amesbury departure, meeting at the Honiton Little Chef for breakfast.

The Amesbury team could consist of Robyn, Mark C, and I.

The Salisbury team of Kev C, Pete A, Dave (could also be Amesbury?) and Mark W?

Drivers TBC.

Timings TBC.

River TBC. If the Dart Loop, has anyone got any views on the shuttle? I would be happy to pay for parking at the Dart Country Park and use their facilities! I like the idea of a shower at the end of the trip. - i know -  a whimp and am not doing my hard Yorkshire image any good but, well to refuse comfort is stupid!!!

Mark, boat choice is up to you. All i can say is the S8 will be fine, but more lively. You will find it easier and alot more comfortable in johns river runner (h2 is it?).

Robyn will be meeting us at destination (RDCP?) she goes to the local college and wont be traveling with us. So transportation may need a re-think. Let me know how it plans out at the pool tomorrow.
