Recommendations for a drysuit
« on: October 06, 2009, 08:59:32 PM »
Last winter I did a lot of shivering.

This winter I do not intend to do as much, and I expect to get equally wet, so the answer seems to be a drysuit.

Can anyone recommend one for under £500?

Having bought a palm dry suit i am very happy with it and can reccomend that. But if i were to buy another, and could last an hour or so without a mars bar then i would go for the Lomo suit (it has no pockets!) http://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/kayaking-drysuits.html

I nearly said dartmoor today but i dont think we've had quite enough rain. I'll probly be kicking myself later for saying that!
Hopefully within the next few weeks with all this rain we're now getting.

Lomo are not expecting deliveries until the end of October but I reckon I can wait. Hopefully the postal strike will have sorted itself out by then.

Last Tuesday, Pete said he was keen on a Dart loop trip before the end of October even if there wasnt much rain.

I happened to be in the Exeter area on Sunday visiting a friend. Whilst travelling the opposite direction, I saw masses of kayaks returning from the South West, including a Land Rover loaded up with kayaks that looked very much like Graham Bland's - I suspect that a Club to the south of us could not resist the bit of rain that we had.

My broken toes are beginning to recover, and so I might be tempted by a paddle very soon, provided that I don't have to walk very far in wetsuit boots.

Thats why they invented dry bags ;D Great for storring trainers/hiking boots!
Dart loop involves little walk as long as there are two cars for a shuttle, i am led to belive there will not be a shuttle service on the loop section this year due to the new access arragement with the park.

Lomo emailed me to say that the drysuits will be in stock next week, and as it is payday today I have ordered one. I read an article saying that they were a good suit but that the feet are likely to wear out. I expect that it will not be a problem if I wear something over the top such as wetsuit boots.

Feet are always a problem. Lots of people say the palm boots/feet leak from day one. I always wear footware when im canoeing so its normal for me to put something over the drysuit sock bits.
