Salisbury's Weir
« on: August 11, 2008, 06:17:07 PM »
Hi,

As a newbie I haven't even seen the mini weir at the club yet due to the high water.

However after speaking to various people I understand that it is in need of some attention. Obviously we will have to wait till the water is lower before even considering building it back up.

Does it require rebuilding or do we need any materials?

Also can we go just go ahead and rebuild the weir or do we need permission?

Thirdly is this a waste of time? As I haven't seen the weir I can't comment!

I am willing to arrange this if it is possible but I don't want to step on anybody's toes and I don't know what is involved so any input would be appreciated!

What do you think? ...

Iain

Hi, i usualy nag people to help me shift a couple of rocks about in the summer but as we've yet to see low water levels it is a bit impossible unless you are good at holding your breath! Maybe nearer the winter when all the river weed dies off the water may drop just enough to do something. And no, no permission is needed to rebuild, not sure about major modifications though (e.g. like a dam and a nice 6ft drop with a big poor over stopper :D yes please!)
