SW CANOE SHOW AND SURF? (or mix and match) 25/26 SEPT
« on: September 15, 2010, 12:23:45 AM »
The SW Canoe Show is at Exeter Quay on 25 Sept. See http://www.swcanoeshow.co.uk/

Does anyone want to make a weekend of it with a visit to the show on the Saturday, and a day kayak surfing at Saunton on the Sunday (26th)?

Having been to Saunton last weekend, I cannot see that a roll is really necessary if you are prepared to empty out on the beach.

If anyone is interested, I have floor space available overnight at my house - about 50 mins from Saunton, 35 mins from Exeter.

Having been to the South West Canoe Show 5 years or so ago, I am not sure that it is that exciting :-\. I would be game for a single day surfing either day (or maybe both). If the forecast favours a river trip on one day and surf the next  ;D  Anyone wishing to stay overnight can, or if people just want one day - still fine ;D ;D

Although big surf, I am sure the less experienced will manage - just pick up the waves nearer to shore and build confidence. At Saunton, the waves start a long way from shore so long surfs are possible, but if you fancy smaller surf, there is still plenty.

Is there any interest? Canoe show not critical. I reckon that Saunton would offer something to everyone, whether or not you have a roll. One day or two. Mix of Dartmoor rivers and surf or just surf, or just white water?  Free accomodation available Saturday night but bring a bottle and sleeping bag.

Well, I conclude that there is not much interest in this... :( :(

It is a shame as conditions would have been pretty good for all levels. Does anyone suggest another date that is a possibility?

03rd October?

I would be up for that date. I will post a separate post up, and presume that nothing is happening on 25/26 Sept.

I will visit the SW Canoe shown on Saturday, but I will not now be available on the 26th now as I am going on a sea trip with Exeter - f4 winds forecast so it should be a bit of a laugh ;D ;D
