Kayaking 1/2 May
« on: April 28, 2010, 08:13:31 AM »
Hi
After consulting the oracle, it appears Sat will be good for a sea trip, an early start would make a Lepe - Ryde, or Keyhaven - Cowes, a possibility, (Nigel's boat may be spoken for (Pete?)). Sun is clearly not good at present, F4+ scary, therefore some swimming/scraping practice in Cardiff is definitely an option (Nigel, would meeting us at Cardiff & driving to Yorkshire after be an option?)
Happy Paddling All

Saturday sounds good - Lepe - Ryde would be my favourite.

Sunday - if we go, then I will travel up with you lot, and drive to Yorkshire early on Monday.

OK done some guess work

Launch Lepe 9:00 (leave my house before 8, sorry)
Cross to Cowes & head for Ryde, tidal flow changes at 11:06, so last 1/2 - 1 hour against weak flow.
Lunch in brilliant sunshine till 12:30 - 1
return with flow, probably reach Lepe 3 - 3:30

Plan B Stop at Fishbourne, shortens trip by 4/5 miles
Plan C (there is no plan C yet)

Any corrections/alternate plans welcomed and encouraged

Currently weather:- Light wind 10 mph (F3) occasional light rain (we'll miss all the showers, honest)

Leave your house at 8am, so that means I leave my house at 07.30am :( I will need the rian to keep me awake.

Anyone else coming? Do I need to get up earlier to put on a second boat?
