Not sure this applies to anyone but i've been asked to post it...

Dear Salisbury Club,

Could you please tell your members about Alpbase.com, an accommodation and support base for paddlers in the Durance Valley, “The White Water Eldorado of the Southern French Alps.”  We have a full range of apartments and chalets and can provide secure storage for your canoes, kayaks and equipment. The accommodation can work out cheaper on a price per person basis than local campsites yet have all the facilities you need after a hard day on the rivers including Wi-Fi and comfortable beds! All the accommodation lie right by the white water rivers ‘Gyr and Onde’ (Grades 3 to 4 depending on water levels) Best of all we are less than 10km from the famous Durance River.

To view all the accommodation options please view link below

Plus France’s national centre for kayaking is situated 15 minutes drive away from us at L’Argentiere la Bessee. In addition you have the Rabioux wave at St Clements – a man made section for slalom and play kayak with a strong undercurrent and numerous waves

Kev

You volunteering to organise a trip over there? Warm sun, good gd3 (I'll walk round the 4), showers & a telly next to a pub. Look good in your logbook.

I've spoken to many paddlers recently and they are all convinced scotland will be more expensive. But i still think floor of a community hall could keep it cheap. Dave do you want to do a bit of price fishing before tuesday?? Some food for though when we have our meeting

I know that we have dismissed camping, but one of us has a central heated caravan.

Just a thought.

By the sounds of it none of us would paddle the etive. It will be a grade 3 trip? We'll bash some heads together tomorrow, providing pete turns up to let us in. He's doing the usual staying under the radar at the moment
